My First Post.

So here it is. My new blog. I'm finally doing it... not just the blog. I'm going to lose the last of my excess weight.

Starting in January 2010, I began losing weight. I lost 40 pounds over the next 8 months, with some short 2 week plateaus, but mostly steady weight loss. In August of 2010, I had a life changing event. I'll eventually dedicate a whole post to it. I had a big loss, I started working full time and I had a boyfriend. I stopped going to the gym regularly and wasn't eating as well. I was pretty unhappy. I had some really good things, but some pretty awful things going on.

I am still working, still coping with the loss, and have been single since December. I've started going to the gym again.... but I'm still stuck at the plateau. Since December, I've gone up and down but stayed within the same 5 pound range.

I've been going to the gym 4-5 times a week for an hour or so each time. I'm lifting some weights (light weights 2-3 times a week) and doing a lot of cardio. I eat relatively healthy. I eat mostly fruits and veggies. I don't eat a lot of fried or greasy food.

What was I doing wrong then?  I think my biggest downfall was the hours after work. I'm a social worker doing group therapy with emotionally disturbed preschoolers. I'm running around until about 1:30 when the kids go home. Then I set in to the tiring part... the paperwork. I  was eating about 1,000 calories during the day at work. Then I'd come home and snack while I made a light dinner. I'd eat dinner. I'd go to the gym and I'd have a snack when I came home.
This has got to change. Its time I finally change.

I am going to continue my exercise. I'm going to keep working out 4-5 times a week. I'm going to try to up my weights to 3-4 times a week. In stead of sacrificing cardio, I'm going to try to do them as circuits to keep my heart rate up.

The biggest change I need to make is my diet. I've got a plan. And it starts tomorrow. I've done the cooking. I've packed my food for work tomorrow. And tomorrow, I'll post the plan.

For now, its off to bed so I'm rested for tomorrow.

Stick with me on this journey because its time I finally do it.
